Plantar WartsThey are caused by the human pappilomavirus (HPV) entering through breaks in the skin of the feet.
They may be removed by traditional warts medication even from home, such as Dr. Scholl's or duct tape, although medical attention should be sought if they are too painful and restrict movement as a result. They can also be very persistent, and spread across the feet.
Plantar warts aren't highly contagious although the variant of HPV that causes them exist mostly in warm, moist environments. This is why it is highly recommended to avoid walking barefoot in locker rooms, public showers and pools. You may easily pick up the virus if you have small cuts on your feet.
