Mild dandruff can easily be contained by regular shampooing. At the same time, avoid use of shampoos with conditioner, hairsprays, gels and coloring agents to avoid irritating the scalp.

Anti-dandruff shampoo

Shampoos like Head and Shoulders, Sebulex, and Nizoral can help control dandruff. Nizoral is especially effective if you follow the directions properly. They can effectively reduce the rate of growth of the top layer of the scalp which causes a large decrease in visible dandruff within weeks (sometimes a matter of days.)

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is recommended for many things and control of dandruff is one of the most effective functions it effectively does. After cleaning your hair, evenly massage your scalp with a few drops of the vinegar. Just make sure to rinse with water vigorously. The smell will not be nice otherwise.

Non-Scalp Areas

For non-scalp areas, apply Nizoral cream twice a day followed by a 1% Hydrocortisone cream. This will help reduce both the flaking and itching.
