Treatment of Warts, Unsightly Skin Growths

Duct Tape

Duct tape has evolved into the first solution for warts removal, thanks to a wide media coverage of experiments by various people of removing warts with using the adhesive. You do this by applying a small piece of duct tape over the wart and leave it in place for six days. Then remove the duct tape, soak it in water and debride with an emery board. Leave it to air overnight and then repeat the process.

Personally, I prefer a quick electrocution of the warts but this has worked for as many as 80% of test subjects during experiments so it is worth a try for a cheap, home-based solution.

Topical Medication

There are oral and topical medications available for warts. They are usually the most ineffective solution and work only for a small percentage of cases.

The following topical medications are usually prescribed for warts treatment:

* Imiquimod (Aldara). This cream appears to boost your immune system's ability to fight genital warts. Avoid sexual contact while the cream is on your skin. It may weaken condoms and diaphragms and may irritate your partner's skin.

* Podofilox (Condylox). Podofilox works by destroying genital wart tissue. You can apply this yourself, although instructions from a doctor is highly recommended. Never apply Podofilox internally.

* Trichloroacetic acid (TCA). This chemical treatment burns off genital warts and must always be applied by a doctor, due to sensitivity of the areas to be treated.

Freezing Dry Ice aka Liquid Nitrogen

Freezing the warts with dry ice is an often-employed treatment. Since the wart is just a skin growth, once it's frozen, it can be easily removed. This may require multiple trips to your doctor every two to four weeks.

Electric Needle

Kryoderm is the practice of using a needle to electrocute the wart. This is a very popular treatment for warts and usually leaves temporary scars for several days. They are often employed to remove small, flat warts on the face.

Surgical Removal

Warts that are of abnormal growth size are usually sliced up and removed surgically.

Bleomycin

Bleomycin is a substance injected into the warts to make them subside and, eventually, peel off.

Laser

The CO2 Laser is the most effective warts treatment and will work for most cases. This is often used for hard cases like warts on the feet which do not respond well to other treatments.
